Happy New Year, guys! 💥💥 Can you believe its 2018? I literally remember when it was turning from 1999 to 2000 and we all thought that the world was going to end because the computers would malfunction. And look at us now…just thriving. 💪🏻
Anyway, since it IS 2018, I wanted to share some of my goals for this year with y’all. I didn’t make a fancy vision board as some people do. (Confession: I actually just found out recently that vision boards are a REAL thing. 😳 I thought that vision boards were a figurative thing? Like oh, ‘I’m going to put all of my goals on this figurative goal!’ But, come to find out, there is typically an actual board involved. Or some fancy people do make them on the computer.) Anyway, I actually do have a lot of goals that I am working on this year, so I’ll share some of them with you guys in case you are looking for some motivation in your new year: 1. Stay Seizure Free At the end of December, I made 5 months seizure free 🙌🏻, so this is perhaps the most important goal for my new year. Since Kevin and I started eating better at the beginning of September, I haven’t had a seizure, and God willing, this seizure-free streak will continue! I recently checked my “seizure tracker calendar” as I think of it, and I haven’t been seizure free for 6 months for as long as I can see. The last 6 month span I can recall was shortly after Kevin and I got married – so I’m going to say probably 5ish years ago. Fingers crossed guys…
2. Begin a second round of Whole 30 on January 2nd I can happily report that Kevin and I are currently in our second round of Whole 30 (today is day 10), but this round will be a Whole 60 for us. We have gotten past the sugar detox phase (Hallelujah) and are now moving on to feeling amazing. We are trying plenty of new recipes and basically kicking butt. Stay tuned for lots of fun updates!
3. Get on a better sleeping schedule 😴 I’ve known for years that not getting enough sleep every night is one of my biggest triggers for having a seizure. Or even if I get off of my set sleeping pattern, it can lead to me having a seizure. So with this new year, I want to start going to bed earlier, AKA not staying up reading until midnight every night 🤓.
What can I say? It’s an addiction. But I know, I know. The book will still be there in the morning…or so they say 🤔.
4. Start Recycling ♻️ So, this was prompted when I hosted book club last month and 2 of the members were basically appalled with my lack of recycling. I was like well, oops…sorry guys! So I interrogated my friend Kristen (AKA, one of the appallers) who obviously recycles, asked her a million questions like, “where do you keep your recycling when its still in the kitchen?”, and Voila! We now recycle. It’s actually kind of fun…I don’t know if Kevin would say it is fun, but he partakes as well.
5. Complete my Goodreads reading challenge 🤓
If you don’t read, you are probably like…what is Goodreads?? 🤔 and to that I say, you are missing out on a major aspect of life. But to those of you who DO partake in one of the GREATEST pleasures of life, my reading challenge for this year is 50 books 📚Which I feel is totally doable. I initial thought 75, but then I was like…I’d rather go over my goal than not achieve it, ya know??
6. Morning Yoga 🧘♀️
I’m hoping that
his goal to my list, will make me more inclined to do it. I don’t even go anywhere for yoga. I literally do it at my house, in my den, on a pink mat that I bought at Marshalls for $5.99. So like, why is it so hard?? 🤷🏼♀️🤷🏼♀️
Anyway, Kevin and I have a few more goals for this year, but I hope this list that is personal to me will help get you started as you compile your list. I’ll be keeping y’all posted on our Whole60 journey. It has already been adventurous and today is only day 10!Xoxo,Seizure Girl 💜
