Sooo, today is a big day guys. It seems like just a few weeks ago I was telling you guys that I was FINALLY 3 months seizure free. Where has the time gone, guys? These past 3 months have really flown by.
Today I’m telling you guys that I’ve finally made it. 6. FREAKING. MONTHS. SEIZURE. FREE. This day means SO many things, but mostly its just happiness. I’ve been looking forward to this day for, oh I don’t know…YEARS. I know that I wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t for our new diet choices. So in celebration, I’m sharing with you, the thank you note that I have written to the creator of Whole 30, Melissa Hartwig:
I know that you probably get 100s and 100s of thank you messages and letters a day, but I have been mentally writing this letter in my head for months. You see, you have truly given me my life back. When I was 15 years old, I was diagnosed with generalized tonic-clonic seizures. There is no medical reason that I have seizures: no brain injury, no trauma, no infection…they just happen 🤷🏼♀️. Since my diagnosis in 2003, my familyand I have struggled to accept and understand why I have seizures. My mom and I have traveled miles and miles, I’ve seen multiple doctors, tried countless anti-epileptic medications, and even still…I could not get my seizures 100% controlled.
I guess everyone does eventually have their breaking point (or maybe it was a moment of clarity 🤔), and last August, at the age of 29, I looked at my husband and proposed trying the Whole30. Well Melissa, today, on January 30, I am for the first time in YEARS, seizure free for 6 MONTHS, and I know with all certainty that it is strongly attributed to you and the Whole30.
Melissa, Thank you so much for giving me my life back. You will never know how much it means to feel in control of my life again. Epilepsy is a vastly misunderstood disorder, but I hope that many, many more people who are struggling to find answers can find clarity and strength in the whole30, just like I did.
I hope that y’all’s January 30th is as fantastic as mine. Thank you to everyone who has supported me through this journey. Especially my husband – you are literally the most amazing person that I have ever met, and I, of course, could not have done any of this without you. ❤️❤️
